04Wall Build-up — Cabinet to Cabinet

Cabinets are joined via twist-locks operated by a red lever: the top twist-lock connects the upper cabinet to the one below, the side twist-lock connects horizontally adjacent cabinets.

Build directionFlown: top-down — hook the top row into the hanging bar first, then add rows underneath row by row. Ground support: bottom-up — place the bottom row on the mount first, then stack rows on top row by row.
  1. Position first rowFlown: hook the top row into the hanging bar and close the bar locks. Ground support: place the bottom row on the mount.
  2. Add horizontal neighbourAdd the horizontally adjacent cabinet, threading the side alignment pins. Fully close the side twist-locks.
  3. Add next rowFlown: attach the next row from below to the row already in the bar. Ground support: place the next row from above. Close the top twist-locks.
  4. Continue row by rowRepeat horizontally and vertically in the build direction until the desired wall size is reached.
  5. Power & data afterwards — verify locksConnect power (ch. 5) and data (ch. 6) only after mechanical assembly is complete. Every twist-lock is safe only when the red lever sits fully flush — verify each connection manually.

Chapter 05

05Power Daisy Chain

Power consumption is specified per wall area, not per cabinet. Do not exceed the cabinet counts in the table per chain.

Chapter 06

06Data Connection

A COEX sending card (MX series) feeds the wall. The cabinet's receiving card is a COEX A5S. Rule of thumb: up to 20 cabinets per data port on MX controllers.

MX20 / MX30 / MX40COEX sending cardPort 1 · Port 2P1C1IN → OUTC2IN → OUTC3IN → OUTC20IN → OUTBlock 1 · up to 20 cabinetsmax. 50 mmax. 50 mPort 2 → Block 2

Fig. 6.1 — Data daisy chain: Novastar COEX sending card (MX series) → up to 20 cabinets per port, max. 50 m between two cabinets. Split larger walls across several ports.

Topology & Key Data

  • Max. cable length between two cabinets: 50 m (shielded Cat6).
  • Multiple ports: balance resolution evenly → consistent latency.
  • Recommended sending cards: MX20 / MX30 / MX40 Pro (COEX-compatible).

Cable Care

  • Only shielded Cat6 IP65 with Seetronic connectors.
  • Avoid sharp bends and tensile load on the connector.
  • Cap unused data sockets with a protection cap.

Chapter 07

07Rigging & Ground Support

7.1Hanging Bar System

Hanging bars are 50 cm wide and identical for 50×50 and 100×50 cabinets — the same bar system carries both formats.

Bar variantTypeUse
Hanging bar straightstraightstraight walls
Hanging bar curvedcurvedarcs, concave / convex

Key Data

  • Load rating: max. 105 kg per 50 cm bar segment.
  • Max. flown wall height: 6.5 m static.
  • Attachment points: eye bolts on the bar for steel wires, shackles, truss clamps.
  • Bar-to-cabinet locking: integrated per mount.

Flown Procedure (top → down)

  1. Prepare the hanging bar on the ground, check eye bolts.
  2. Hook the top row into the bar, close bar locks.
  3. Lift slightly (max. 30 cm), attach the next row from below, secure top twist-locks.
  4. Continue row by row from top to bottom. Lift to final height only when all checks are complete.

7.2Ground Support & Quick-Release

Each cabinet provides 4× M8 threaded holes on the rear die-cast aluminium frame for wall brackets or sub-structures. Max. thread engagement: 15 mm — longer screws may damage the internals.

A proprietary quick-release on top mates with the Luminus ground-support system — not compatible with common speaker or lighting stand adapters. Stand-based setups require the matching Luminus ground-support element.

Chapter 08

08Tilt Variant ±10°

The tilt variants (50×50 Tilt and 100×50 Tilt) feature a stepped detent mechanism for horizontal tilt of −10° to +10° in 2.5° steps along the cabinet's long axis. This allows curved (concave / convex) wall shapes.

Detent positions: 0 · ±2.5° · ±5° · ±7.5° · ±10° — nine positions total.

  1. Loosen locking screwLoosen the locking screw on the tilt axis on the rear, between the module pairs.
  2. Choose detent position (2.5° steps)Move the cabinet into one of the pre-defined detent positions — 0°, ±2.5°, ±5°, ±7.5° or ±10°.
  3. Re-tighten locking screwRe-tighten the locking screw. The detent prevents unintended movement.
  4. Per cabinet individuallyRepeat for each cabinet — every tilt is set individually.
Building curvesWhen building curves, tilt is increased step by step across the row. Example using 2.5° steps: 0° · 2.5° · 5° · 7.5° · 5° · 2.5° · 0° — producing a smooth arc.

Chapter 09

09First Commissioning

Each cabinet holds a Novastar COEX A5S receiving card. The configuration is pre-loaded on the modules at the factory — the system is ready to operate immediately after power and data are connected. For live mapping, VMP is used:

VMPVisual Mapping Platform — live wall configuration, pixel layout, brightness
NovaLCTOnly if needed: maintenance, firmware update, receiving-card re-programming
  1. Wire power & dataEstablish power and data wiring per chapters 5 and 6.
  2. Connect sending card via networkConnect the sending card (MX series) to the control computer via Ethernet / network cable. Open VMP — the wall is detected automatically.
  3. Map pixel layout in VMPMap the physical wall layout to the sending-card ports.
  4. Send test patternSend a test pattern from VMP and verify visually that all cabinets respond.
  5. Outdoor: 80 % brightnessOn first outdoor run, limit brightness to 80 % and observe the wall under load for 15 min.
.rcfgx file only when neededThe receiving-card configuration (.rcfgx) is pre-loaded at the factory. Only if the configuration has been altered must the file be reloaded via NovaLCT (Configuration File → Open → Send to HW). The current .rcfgx is sent by email from Lexvision on request.
